The bad thing about this EGR cooler on the BEW is that it is equipped with a solenoid activated bypass valve which blocks the exhaust from entering the cooler when the engine is cold. 7390 posts · Joined 2016. #3 · Dec 22, 2019. A good tune will turn off the EGR correctly. Stage 1 and stage 2 initially only referred to the two different types of EGR delete. Stage 1 only removed the diffuser tube through the use of 2 block-off plates. Stage 2 allows removal of the entire EGR.
